Chittorgarh (Rajasthan): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan has registered a corruption case against a computer operator posted at the Excise Office in Kapasan for allegedly demanding a bribe from a tempo driver by threatening to implicate him in a false case.
Complaint and Allegations
The action was taken after a complaint was filed by Kalu Singh, a loading tempo driver, who alleged that he was being threatened with a fabricated case at the Kapasan Excise Office. According to the complaint, the accused official — Suresh Chandra Salvi — allegedly demanded a bribe in exchange for ensuring that no case would be filed against him or his tempo.
Threat of False Case
The complainant told the ACB that the demand was made in the name of the Circle Inspector (CI) Nandkishore Vaishnav, and that a sum of ₹2,00,000 (two lakh rupees) was initially sought to drop the matter. To facilitate the transaction, the complainant was instructed to contact the computer operator, Salvi.
Verification by ACB
On December 15, 2025, the ACB conducted a verification of the complaint. During this process, Salvi allegedly agreed to the demand of ₹1,00,000 (one lakh rupees). A digital voice recording made by the bureau reportedly captured the accused confirming the arrangement and saying that the CI would not accept less than that amount.
Failed Trap Operation
The ACB attempted several times to catch the accused red-handed through a trap operation, but initial attempts were unsuccessful. On December 30, 2025, while the complainant was meeting CI Vaishnav, the inspector briefly checked the complainant’s mobile phone, which raised suspicion. This alerted the accused and they refused to take the money, leaving the complainant and evading the trap operation.
FIR and Investigation
Based on the voice recordings and the verification report, the ACB confirmed sufficient evidence to proceed under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). A formal First Information Report (FIR) has now been registered against Salvi. The case has also been forwarded to the ACB headquarters, and detailed investigation has been entrusted to Police Inspector Dr. Sonu Shekhawat.
This action was carried out under the guidance of ACB Deputy Inspector General Anil Kayal, reflecting the bureau’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption in government offices and ensure accountability among public servants.
