NEW DELHI – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a corruption case against a Sub-Inspector (SI) and a Head Constable (HC) of the Delhi Police for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹1,00,000 to settle a criminal case.

The Allegations

The case centers on SI Raksha and HC Rahul, both stationed at Police Station Shakarpur in East Delhi. According to the FIR, the complainant, Smt. Neha, alleged that she and her friend, Deepankar Rai, were named in a “false” FIR (No. 333/2025) previously registered at the Shakarpur station.

The complainant stated that on March 10, 2026, the two accused officers arrived at her residence in Noida in a private Innova car. They allegedly took her to the Shakarpur Police Station, where she was detained from approximately 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

During this time, the officers reportedly demanded a bribe of ₹1,00,000 in exchange for removing the names of Neha and her friend from the pending investigation.

CBI Action and Verification

Unwilling to pay the bribe, Neha filed a written complaint with the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on April 3, 2026. The CBI conducted a verification process, which concluded on April 6, 2026, confirming the prima facie evidence of the bribe demand.

Following the verification, the CBI registered a Regular Case (RC) against both officials. They have been booked under:

  • Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (Criminal Conspiracy).
  • Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), relating to public servants taking undue advantage.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation has been officially entrusted to Inspector Mukesh Mishra of the CBI, ACB, Delhi. The FIR was authorized by Superintendent of Police I.B. Pendhari on April 6, 2026.
