Alwar: In a major anti-corruption action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against a clerk posted in the Forest Department office in Alwar for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe in connection with a seized dumper release report.
Bribe Demand for Court Report
According to officials, the accused clerk demanded ₹35,000 from a complainant in exchange for sending an acquisition report to the court, which was required for the release of a seized dumper.
The complainant’s dumper had been seized by the Forest Department, and the court had sought an official report from the department to proceed with the release process.
Amount Negotiated, Partial Payment Taken
During the verification process conducted by the ACB, it was revealed that the accused later agreed to accept ₹30,000 instead of the initially demanded amount. The clerk allegedly accepted ₹20,000 as part payment and continued to demand the remaining ₹10,000.
ACB Verification Confirms Allegations
The ACB carried out a discreet verification using a voice recording, which confirmed the demand and partial acceptance of the bribe. Based on this evidence, the bureau proceeded with legal action.
FIR Registered Under Corruption Act
Although a trap operation could not be successfully executed due to the accused not being present in the office on subsequent days, the ACB registered an FIR under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act after confirming the allegations.
Investigation Handed Over
The case has been handed over to a Deputy Superintendent of Police for detailed investigation. Officials are now examining all aspects of the case, including potential involvement of other individuals.
Continued Crackdown on Corruption
The ACB reiterated its commitment to strict action against corruption in government departments. Authorities have urged citizens to report such incidents, assuring confidentiality and prompt action.
