CHENNAI – The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the CBI in Chennai has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Dr. Dhinadhayalan M, the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Puducherry, and his wife, Mrs. D. Vahida, for allegedly amassing assets significantly beyond their known sources of income.
The investigation, finalized on January 22, 2026, reveals that the official’s assets and expenditures were found to be 213.47% disproportionate to his legal earnings during a six-year period.
A Career Under Scrutiny
Dr. Dhinadhayalan’s career began in March 1987 as a Junior Engineer in the Puducherry PWD. Over the decades, he held various high-ranking positions:
- Central Roles: Served in the Ministry of Urban Development (now Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs) as an Assistant, Deputy, and Joint Advisor between 1996 and 2024.
- Deputations: Acted as Officer on Special Duty for the Smart City Mission and AMRUT in Puducherry from 2015 to 2019.
- Current Position: He returned on deputation in March 2024 to serve as the Chief Engineer of the PWD in Puducherry.
