Jaisalmer, Rajasthan: A major administrative controversy has surfaced in the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Jaisalmer, raising serious questions about the functioning of the education department. Allegations of procedural violations and irregularities have prompted the Chief District Education Officer (CDEO), Lalchand Nehalia, to issue a formal notice to the institute’s principal, seeking clarification on multiple serious charges.

One of the most shocking allegations involves the principal marking physical attendance while officially on commuted leave and being away from headquarters. According to departmental records, signatures were recorded for official research duties during a period when the officer was not physically present, raising concerns of possible fraud and misuse of authority.

Another controversial issue relates to backdated entries and questionable training records. Reports indicate that orders for 34 personnel were generated in January, yet the training period for at least three individuals was shown as starting in December. This discrepancy has triggered discussions within the education sector, with many calling it a case of administrative manipulation or “time travel” in official records.

Further irregularities include the assignment of a teacher to a non-existent department, namely the “Hindustan Scout and Guide” division, which reportedly does not exist within DIET. Such actions point toward serious violations of established norms and potential abuse of position. Additional discrepancies have also been found in the pre-training records of several personnel.

Taking a strict stance, the CDEO has termed these issues as administrative misconduct and demanded an immediate explanation from the principal. Officials suggest that failure to provide satisfactory answers may lead to strict disciplinary action. The case has sparked wider concerns among staff and locals about whether these are isolated lapses or part of a larger corruption network.
