NEW DELHI/BILASPUR – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), AC-II, New Delhi, has registered a regular case against Vishal Anand, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE: 2000) officer and the then Chief Engineer (RSW), South East Central Railway (SECR), Bilaspur, for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets (DA).
The FIR (RC2172026A0002), filed on January 21, 2026, follows a previous bribery investigation that led to the discovery of significant unexplained wealth.
The Investigation Trail: From Bribery to DA
The DA case stems from a previous CBI investigation (RC 2172025A0010) registered in April 2025 involving alleged criminal conspiracy and bribery. During searches conducted at Vishal Anand’s premises, investigators seized ₹18.5 lakh in cash and documents revealing extensive movable and immovable property holdings.
Further analysis for the “check period” between April 1, 2022, and April 25, 2025, prima facie disclosed that Anand possessed assets far beyond his legal income from salary and rent.
