CBI Jodhpur Books AIIMS Official for Bribe Demand; Investigation Launched Against UDC

JODHPUR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jodhpur, has registered a formal case against an administrative official at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur. The official is accused of demanding an “undue advantage” from a technician based in Jaisalmer, leading to a prompt investigation by the federal agency.


Details of the Accused and Complainant

The FIR, registered on April 17, 2026, identifies the following individuals involved in the case:

  • The Accused: Shrikanta Swamy, currently serving as an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the Administration Office (Dental) at AIIMS Jodhpur.
  • The Complainant: Sh. Pankaj Kumar, son of Sh. Mansaram Prajapat, a resident of Shakti Vihar, Gandhi Colony, Jaisalmer. Kumar is professionally employed as a Technician Gr. III in the Military Engineer Services (MES) at the Airforce Station in Jaisalmer.

Nature of the Offence

The investigation was triggered by a written complaint submitted by Sh. Pankaj Kumar on the morning of April 17, 2026. Following a preliminary verification of the allegations, the CBI moved forward with a regular case.

  • Primary Charge: Demand of undue advantage by a public servant.
  • Legal Provisions: The case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), which specifically deals with public servants accepting or demanding illegal gratification.
  • Rapid Response: The CBI received the information at 11:15 AM and officially registered the FIR by 2:00 PM the same day, showcasing a swift crackdown on reported administrative corruption.

Ongoing Investigation

The formal investigation into the conduct of Shrikanta Swamy has been officially entrusted to Sh. Hemraj Gurjar, Inspector, CBI, ACB, Jodhpur.

The agency will now look into the specific circumstances of the demand and determine the extent of the alleged misconduct. This latest action highlights the CBI’s continuous oversight of premier central institutions like AIIMS to ensure transparency and integrity in administrative functions.
