In a major anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan has registered an FIR against Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) official Randheer Singh after he was caught accepting a bribe of ₹40,000. The case has once again highlighted concerns over corruption in government licensing and administrative processes.

Bribe Demand for Shop Licenses

According to ACB officials, the accused, who was serving as Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Neem-ka-Thana (Sikar), allegedly demanded ₹80,000 from a complainant for issuing licenses for four shops in the names of the complainant’s family members.

The complainant reported the matter to the ACB, alleging repeated pressure and harassment for payment of the bribe amount.

Trap Operation Laid by ACB

Following the complaint, the ACB conducted a preliminary verification which confirmed the allegations. After verification, a trap was laid under the supervision of senior officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

During the operation, the accused was caught red-handed while accepting ₹40,000 as part payment of the demanded bribe amount. The remaining amount had allegedly been negotiated earlier during discussions between the complainant and the accused.

Officials confirmed that the operation was carried out by the Sikar unit of ACB under proper supervision, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused officer.

FIR Registered Under Prevention of Corruption Act

After the successful trap operation, the ACB registered a formal FIR against Randheer Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to examine whether similar irregularities occurred in other cases linked to his office.

Administrative Position and Investigation

Reports indicate that the accused was also holding additional charge related to market committee responsibilities in the region. Following his arrest, the ACB is now scrutinizing records, licensing files, and financial approvals handled by him during his tenure.

Officials are also investigating whether other individuals or departments were involved in the alleged corruption network.

ACB Reaffirms Zero Tolerance Policy

The Rajasthan ACB has reiterated its strict stance against corruption, stating that trap operations will continue across departments to ensure transparency and accountability in public services. Citizens have been encouraged to report corruption cases through official complaint channels.

Conclusion

The arrest of the APMC secretary in Sikar adds to a growing list of anti-corruption actions in Rajasthan. The case highlights ongoing concerns about bribery in licensing processes and reinforces the need for stronger monitoring and transparency in administrative systems.
