Jaipur: In a significant relief for candidates of the Third Grade Teacher Recruitment-2022 in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan High Court has directed the state government to provide appointments to eligible candidates in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Government vs. Namo Narayan Sharma case.

The order was passed by Justice Anand Sharma while allowing petitions filed by candidate Kaushalya Jat and several other aspirants who had approached the court seeking relief over appointment-related disputes in the recruitment process.

Recruitment Process and Result Dispute

The matter relates to the Level-2 recruitment examination conducted for approximately 27,000 posts in various subjects including Hindi, English, Science, Social Studies, Sanskrit, Urdu, and other disciplines under the Third Grade Teacher Recruitment-2022.

According to advocate Rampratap Saini, the recruitment notification for the posts was issued on December 16, 2022. However, controversy later emerged regarding the answer key used in the examination.

Several candidates challenged the answer key before the High Court, alleging discrepancies and errors that affected merit rankings and selection outcomes. Following legal proceedings and review of objections, authorities later issued a revised result for the recruitment examination.

Candidates With Higher Marks Left Without Appointments

The petitioners argued before the court that despite securing higher marks than some selected candidates, they were deprived of appointments after the revised results and selection process. They sought relief by citing the Supreme Court judgment in the Government vs. Namo Narayan Sharma matter, which dealt with appointment rights and merit-based selection principles.

After hearing the petitions, the High Court directed the authorities to comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling and provide appointments to eligible candidates according to rules and merit criteria.

Major Relief for Aspirants

The judgment is being seen as a major relief for hundreds of aspirants who had been waiting for appointments despite performing well in the recruitment examination. Many candidates had alleged irregularities and administrative inconsistencies after the revised result was released.

Legal experts believe the ruling may influence similar pending disputes linked to recruitment examinations and merit list revisions in Rajasthan.

Focus on Merit and Fair Selection

The case once again highlights the growing legal scrutiny surrounding recruitment examinations in the state, where multiple competitive exams and teacher recruitments have faced controversies over answer keys, revised results, and selection procedures.

Candidates and education sector observers say the High Court’s intervention reinforces the principle that deserving candidates with higher merit should not be denied appointments due to procedural complications.

The state government and recruitment authorities are now expected to implement the court’s directions and initiate the appointment process for eligible petitioners in compliance with the judgment.
