Jaipur: In a major crackdown under the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign “Operation Clean Sweep,” the Jaipur Police Commissionerate has arrested a Nigerian national allegedly involved in the trafficking of high-value synthetic drugs in the state capital.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Crime Suppression Team (CST) and Shipra Path Police Station police. Officials stated that narcotics worth nearly ₹55 lakh in the international market were recovered from the accused during the operation.

Accused Arrested After Police Surveillance in Mansarovar

According to police officials, the CST team had received specific intelligence inputs that a foreign national would arrive near Hotel Ganga Shrey Inn in Jaipur’s SFS area to deliver narcotics to a customer.

Acting on the information, police teams laid a trap and surrounded the suspect while he was allegedly waiting outside the hotel premises. The accused was detained after a brief surveillance operation and subsequently arrested.

Cocaine and Methamphetamine Recovered

The arrested accused has been identified as Tochukwu David, aged 44, originally from Anambra State in Nigeria.

Police said the accused had been living secretly in Delhi before allegedly operating drug supply activities in Jaipur and other cities.

During the search operation, police reportedly recovered:

  • 102 grams of cocaine
  • 17 grams of methamphetamine (MD)

Officials stated that the seized narcotics are considered high-value party drugs commonly circulated in urban student and nightlife circuits.

College Students Allegedly Targeted

Preliminary interrogation has reportedly revealed that the accused was in contact with several Nigerian students studying in colleges and universities in Jaipur.

Investigators suspect that the accused intended to use these student connections to expand the drug supply network among local youth and student circles in the city.

Police sources said the accused frequently transported narcotics from Delhi and Chandigarh before selling them in Jaipur at significantly higher prices.

Authorities are now examining whether other foreign nationals or local suppliers were also involved in the network.

Visa Had Expired, Says Police

During verification, police allegedly discovered that Tochukwu David had overstayed in India after the expiry of his visa.

Officials said he had continued residing in the country illegally while allegedly participating in narcotics trafficking activities.

A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), along with relevant sections of the Foreigners Act.

Jaipur Police Expanding Investigation

The Jaipur Police Commissionerate has now intensified efforts to uncover the larger drug distribution network linked to the accused.

Investigators are trying to identify:

  • Local contacts operating in Jaipur
  • The source and supply chain of narcotics from Delhi
  • Possible buyers and delivery channels in student areas
  • Other individuals assisting in distribution and logistics

Officials believe the arrest could lead to the exposure of a wider inter-state narcotics racket operating in Rajasthan.

The operation is part of an intensified anti-drug campaign being carried out by Jaipur Police to curb the growing circulation of synthetic drugs among urban youth and student communities.
