Jaipur: The ‘Aapno Jaipur Harit Sangam – Ek Ped Purvajon Ke Naam’ (One Tree in the Name of Ancestors) programme was inaugurated in Jaipur with a message of environmental conservation, plantation and collective responsibility towards protecting nature.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari formally inaugurated the programme, which aims to encourage citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation and contribute towards increasing green cover in the state.

During the programme, Diya Kumari took information about the initiatives being undertaken for environmental protection and discussed the objectives of the Harit Sangam campaign. According to Diya Kumari, environmental protection is a collective responsibility of every section of society. She encouraged people to become part of initiatives aimed at conserving nature and promoting greenery in their surroundings.

The ‘Ek Ped Purvajon Ke Naam’ initiative also seeks to connect environmental conservation with family and social values by encouraging people to plant trees in the memory and name of their ancestors. The campaign is intended to create greater public participation in plantation and strengthen awareness about the importance of trees and a sustainable environment.

After the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the media and spoke about the objectives of the Harit Sangam programme and the efforts being undertaken for environmental conservation in Rajasthan.

The event witnessed the participation of several public representatives, environmental campaigners and prominent citizens. MP Manju Sharma, Jaipur Mayor Sunil Kothari, Rajasthan Environment Coordinator Vinod Melana, Neeta Buchra, Ashok Mittal, Shagun Chaudhary, Dhananjay Singh, Kailash and Ashok Dadhich, among others, were present at the programme.

The programme delivered a message that protecting nature requires sustained participation from individuals, communities and institutions.

With the launch of ‘Aapno Jaipur Harit Sangam’, the focus has been placed on creating awareness about greenery and encouraging citizens to take an active role in environmental conservation through plantation and other nature-protection activities.
