CBI Registers Corruption and Fraud Case Over Alleged Railway Job Scam in Rajasthan

Jaipur, January 10, 2026:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Jaipur, has registered a case against a Rajasthan-based individual and others, including unknown public servants, in connection with an alleged fraud involving незакон acquisition of a government job in the Indian Railways.

According to official sources, the case was registered following a complaint dated January 9, 2026, filed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Rastogi of the CBI, ACB Jaipur. The complaint was based on a prior verification inquiry and an official reference received from vigilance authorities of the South Western Railway.

Allegations of Criminal Conspiracy and Fraud

The accused, identified as Sanjay Meena, a resident of Danalpur village in Karauli district, Rajasthan, is alleged to have conspired with unidentified public officials and private individuals between 2019 and 2023. Investigators claim that, through fraudulent means, he secured employment in the Indian Railways under recruitment notification CEN RRC-01/2019.

The FIR states that the accused engaged in criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and use of forged documents. Additionally, the case includes allegations of demand for undue advantage by public servants, indicating possible corruption within the recruitment process.

Charges Filed Under IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act

The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including:

  • Section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy)
  • Section 419 (Cheating by impersonation)
  • Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property)
  • Sections 468 and 471 (Forgery and use of forged documents)

In addition, charges have been invoked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).

Investigation Underway

The investigation has been entrusted to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Prasad of the CBI, ACB Jaipur. Authorities confirmed that further inquiries are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy, including government officials who may have facilitated the fraudulent appointment.

The alleged offences reportedly took place in Karauli district and surrounding areas, approximately 125 kilometers east of Jaipur.

Judicial Oversight and Official Communication

The matter has been formally communicated to the Special Judge for CBI cases in Jaipur, along with senior CBI officials in New Delhi and vigilance authorities of the South Western Railway.

Officials have emphasized that the case is at a preliminary stage, and further evidence will be gathered during the course of the investigation.
