Actor Opens Up About Working With Brother Saqib Saleem and Missing Samay Raina’s Show
Jaipur: Bollywood actor and producer Huma Qureshi visited Jaipur to promote her upcoming suspense-thriller Baby Do Die Do, where she unveiled the film’s official poster and shared key insights into her character, the film’s production journey, and her experience working alongside her brother, producer Saqib Saleem.
The highly anticipated neo-noir crime thriller, produced under the Saleem Siblings banner, is scheduled to release in theatres on July 3, 2026.
Huma Plays a Mute and Deaf Contract Killer
In Baby Do Die Do, Huma portrays Baby Karmarkar, a mute and deaf woman who defies conventional portrayals of differently abled characters in Indian cinema.
Rather than being depicted as vulnerable or dependent, Baby is presented as a sharp, calculating contract killer with a mysterious persona.
Speaking about the role during the Jaipur promotion, Huma emphasised that she wanted the character to be seen as a complete individual rather than a symbolic representation.

“I didn’t want us to simply retell a conventional story through a female character. I wanted Baby to exist as a real person, not as a symbol,” she said.
Learning Sign Language for Authenticity
To prepare for the role, Huma underwent extensive research to understand the experiences and challenges faced by the deaf and mute community.
The actor revealed that she spent time learning sign language and studying the nuances of non-verbal communication to bring authenticity to the character.
According to Huma, portraying Baby Karmarkar required her to communicate emotions, intentions, and vulnerability without relying on spoken dialogue.

One of the film’s most intriguing elements is Baby’s signature accessory — a bright red umbrella.
While it initially appears to be an ordinary object, the story gradually reveals that the umbrella conceals a hidden firearm, making it both Baby’s identity marker and her deadliest weapon.
The symbolic prop is expected to play a central role in the film’s narrative and visual style.
Balancing Responsibilities as Actor and Producer
Baby Do Die Do marks Huma Qureshi’s home production venture alongside her brother Saqib Saleem.
Reflecting on her dual responsibilities as both actor and producer, Huma said she constantly balanced creative and practical considerations throughout the filmmaking process.

“As a producer, I kept asking whether the film had something new to say. As an actor, I wanted to ensure Baby’s story felt truthful and believable. Fortunately, the answer to both questions was the same,” she said.
Huma Shares Her Experience of Working With Brother Saqib Saleem
During an interaction with digital media platform Expose Now, Huma candidly spoke about the advantages of having her brother as the film’s producer.
Responding to a question about working with Saqib, she said she felt more comfortable expressing her creative needs during production.
“Having my brother as the producer made me feel very comfortable on set. Whenever I needed something, I could directly communicate it without hesitation. With an external producer, you may not always be so open,” she said with a laugh.
Huma also recalled a humorous incident involving Saqib during the shoot, adding a personal touch to the conversation.
Huma Qureshi Says She Wanted to Join Samay Raina’s New Show
When asked whether she would appear on comedian Samay Raina’s upcoming show, Huma expressed her admiration for stand-up comedians and revealed that she is a fan of Raina’s work.
However, she clarified that scheduling conflicts prevented her from participating.
“I love and support stand-up comedians. I’m a big fan of Samay Raina and would have loved to be a part of his new show, but unfortunately the shooting schedule clashed with my film promotions,” she said.

Directed by Nachiket Samant, Baby Do Die Do is positioned as a female-led neo-noir crime thriller featuring a blend of suspense, dark humour, and action.
The film is set to hit theatres nationwide on July 3, 2026.
