Sudden Anti-Corruption Raid Creates Panic Inside Civil Lines Zone Office

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has carried out another significant operation against alleged bribery within government departments, this time targeting officials of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC). In a trap action conducted at the Civil Lines Zone office of the municipal body, ACB officials caught a Health Inspector and his alleged middleman red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.

The accused have been identified as Health Inspector Dinesh Kumar and an alleged broker named Prakash, who was reportedly acting as an intermediary for collecting the illegal payment.

The operation triggered panic within the municipal corporation office, with reports suggesting that several employees and officials left their seats immediately after learning about the raid.

Complaint Led to Planned Trap Operation

According to officials, the Anti-Corruption Bureau initiated the operation after receiving a formal complaint from the complainant, who alleged that a bribe demand had been made in connection with official work.

Following verification of the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and closely monitored the transaction process. During the operation, investigators observed that the Health Inspector allegedly chose not to receive the money directly and instead used middleman Prakash to collect the bribe amount on his behalf.

As soon as the money exchange took place, the ACB team moved in and detained both accused on the spot.

Officials confirmed that the tainted currency notes were recovered during the operation, strengthening the prosecution’s evidence in the case.

ACB Team Led by Senior Officers

The anti-corruption operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abhishek Pareek and Circle Inspector Chhote Lal. The team reportedly conducted the action swiftly to prevent any attempt to destroy evidence or alert other individuals connected to the alleged bribery network.

The sudden presence of anti-corruption officers inside the municipal corporation premises reportedly caused chaos and tension among staff members.

Sources indicated that many employees became visibly nervous after the arrests, while others allegedly left the premises fearing further scrutiny.

Investigation Expanding Beyond Initial Arrests

The Anti-Corruption Bureau is currently interrogating both accused to determine whether the bribery incident was an isolated case or part of a larger corruption network operating within the department.

Officials said searches may also be conducted at the residences and other locations linked to the accused in order to gather additional evidence regarding disproportionate assets, financial transactions, or involvement of other officials.

Investigators are particularly examining whether senior officials or additional employees in the municipal system were aware of or connected to the alleged bribery practices.

Corruption in Civic Bodies Under Spotlight

The latest trap operation has once again drawn attention to allegations of corruption within urban local bodies and municipal departments, where citizens often complain about illegal payments being demanded for routine public services, licenses, sanitation approvals, inspections, and administrative clearances.

Anti-corruption authorities have intensified vigilance operations across Rajasthan in recent months, targeting officials accused of exploiting public offices for personal gain.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation, one of the state’s largest civic bodies, has previously faced criticism over transparency, public service delivery, and allegations of irregularities in administrative functioning.

ACB Urges Public to Report Bribery Demands

Following the operation, ACB officials reiterated their appeal to citizens to report any government employee or public servant demanding bribes in exchange for official work.

The bureau stated that public cooperation remains essential in identifying and dismantling corruption networks within government institutions.

Officials emphasized that strict legal action would continue against those involved in bribery and misuse of public office.

Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
