Jaipur: A high-profile land dispute involving property reportedly worth nearly ₹100 crore in Jaipur’s upscale Vasundhara Colony has now escalated into a major internal controversy within the Rajasthan Police.
In a dramatic twist, police officers who allegedly acted against suspected land grabbers are themselves facing departmental scrutiny, raising serious questions about pressure, influence, and possible interference in police functioning.
The matter has now reportedly reached the office of the Rajasthan Police Director General of Police (DGP), where demands for an impartial inquiry are gaining momentum.

Alleged Attempt to Seize Prime Property
The controversy dates back to March 30, 2026, when a dispute erupted over approximately one bigha of land located in Vasundhara Colony on Tonk Road, one of Jaipur’s premium urban areas.
According to the complainant, Satyanarayan Meena, a group allegedly attempted to forcibly occupy shops and houses constructed on the disputed land.
The complainant claimed the property is ancestral land belonging to his family.
Allegations have been levelled against alleged land dealer Ashish Agrawal, who was reportedly accompanied by Ashok Nagar police station history-sheeter Kapil Sharma and several associates.
The accused allegedly broke locks of shops and attempted forcible entry into the premises.
Local residents reportedly informed the police immediately after the incident.
Police Action Initially Praised
Following the complaint, teams from Bajaj Nagar Police Station and the Malviya Nagar ACP office reached the spot and initiated action.
Police reportedly detained history-sheeter Kapil Sharma along with two others during the operation.
Legal observers within the department described the move as a prompt and effective police response intended to prevent escalation and maintain law and order.
However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn soon afterward.

Senior-Level Intervention Sparks Controversy
According to sources, intervention by a senior IPS officer reportedly led to scrutiny of the very police action that had resulted in the detention of the accused individuals.
Questions were allegedly raised regarding procedural lapses during the operation.
Subsequently, explanations were sought from:
- Vinod Kumar Sharma
- Dharmveer Singh
- Poonam Chaudhary
In a move that reportedly triggered strong reactions within the police department, SHO Poonam Chaudhary was allegedly sent to the police lines pending departmental review.
Growing Anger Within Police Circles
The development has reportedly created unease and resentment among several police officers.
Sources within the department claim that many officials privately believe the action sends a discouraging message to field officers attempting to act against influential criminal networks and alleged land mafias.
Several officers are said to be questioning whether taking action against powerful individuals could now invite punishment instead of appreciation.
The controversy has intensified speculation about whether external pressure or influence played a role in the departmental proceedings initiated against the officers involved.
Complaint Reaches DGP Office
The matter has now reportedly reached the office of the Director General of Police, where demands have been made for an independent and transparent investigation.
Officials seeking a fair probe reportedly want clarity on two key questions:
- Were there genuine procedural violations during the operation?
- Or was the action against the officers influenced by powerful interests linked to the disputed property?
The outcome of the inquiry is expected to have significant implications for police morale and future anti-encroachment operations.

Tribal Community Angle Adds Social Sensitivity
The issue has acquired additional social and political sensitivity because the complainant family belongs to a tribal community.
Sources familiar with the matter claim that the dispute is no longer being viewed merely as a property conflict but also as a test of administrative fairness and institutional integrity.
Expose Now investigations suggest that influential individuals and possible white-collar interests may also be linked to the disputed land.
The case is now being closely watched across political, legal, and administrative circles in Rajasthan.
Questions Over Systemic Pressure
The controversy has reignited debate over alleged land mafia influence in urban Rajasthan and the vulnerability of honest officers facing political or administrative pressure.
Observers believe the DGP’s response to the case may determine whether the message sent to police personnel is one of accountability and fairness—or fear and hesitation while acting against influential groups.
As the investigation unfolds, attention remains focused on whether the officers involved in the operation will receive institutional backing or continue to face disciplinary action.
