Jaipur: Allegations of irregularities and possible corruption in the vocational education tender process under the Rajasthan Council of School Education (RCSE) have triggered fresh political and administrative debate in the state. The controversy revolves around contracts related to the appointment of vocational trainers in government schools and the subsequent reversal of earlier cancellation orders issued against certain firms.
According to reports, firms that were previously removed from vocational training projects following complaints of alleged irregularities and corruption were later reinstated by the education authorities. The decision has raised questions regarding transparency, accountability, and procedural consistency within the vocational education system in Rajasthan.
Vocational education programs in Rajasthan government schools are aimed at providing students with industry-oriented skills and practical training to improve employability and career readiness. Thousands of students across districts are enrolled in courses linked to information technology, healthcare, retail, tourism, agriculture, and other sectors under centrally and state-supported schemes.
However, the latest developments have intensified scrutiny over how contracts were awarded and monitored. Critics allege that despite earlier complaints regarding the functioning of some agencies and trainers, authorities reversed earlier punitive actions without sufficient public explanation. The matter has fueled demands for an independent investigation into the tendering process and administrative decisions linked to vocational training contracts.
Education sector observers say that vocational education projects involve substantial public funding and directly impact skill development outcomes for students studying in government schools. Any irregularity in trainer appointments, attendance records, or tender allocation could affect both educational quality and public finances.
The controversy also comes amid wider concerns regarding recruitment and tender-related irregularities in Rajasthan’s education and public welfare sectors. In recent months, investigative agencies in the state have examined several cases linked to alleged manipulation of recruitment processes, forged documentation, and irregular public procurement practices.
Separately, Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau recently investigated a large-scale alleged scam linked to procurement and tender manipulation in public welfare schemes during the Covid-19 period. Officials alleged that procurement rules were manipulated, fake suppliers were used, and inflated invoices caused major losses to the state exchequer.
Experts believe that stronger audit mechanisms, digital monitoring, transparent bidding systems, and public disclosure of contract evaluations are necessary to improve trust in vocational education administration. Stakeholders have also demanded periodic review of agencies engaged in skill-training projects to ensure quality delivery and accountability.
Meanwhile, opposition voices and social organizations are expected to continue pressing the government for clarification regarding the reinstatement of firms and the overall handling of vocational education tenders.
