Udaipur ACB Registers FIR, Revenue Inspector Devendra Ranawat Caught Taking ₹15,000 Bribe; Tehsildar Role Under Scanner

Udaipur, Rajasthan | March–April 2026

In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Udaipur has registered an FIR against a revenue department official after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. The accused, identified as Revenue Inspector Devendra Singh Ranawat, was posted in the Vallabhnagar tehsil office.

Bribe Demand for Land Record Correction

According to ACB officials, the case surfaced after a complainant approached the bureau alleging that the accused demanded ₹15,000 to correct an error in agricultural land records.

The complainant had applied for rectification after his land classification was wrongly recorded during a segregation process. The accused allegedly assured him that the correction could be processed through the tehsildar’s office—but only after payment of the bribe.

Verification and Trap Operation

Following the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification, during which the bribe demand was confirmed through recorded interactions.

Acting on this, an ACB team laid a planned trap operation and caught Devendra Ranawat red-handed while accepting the ₹15,000 bribe from the complainant. Officials stated that the operation was carried out under senior supervision, and the accused was immediately taken into custody.

Tehsildar’s Role Also Under Suspicion

During investigation, it emerged that the accused had allegedly cited the involvement of the tehsildar in getting the correction order approved. This has raised suspicion about possible higher-level involvement.

ACB officials confirmed that the role of the Vallabhnagar tehsildar is now under scrutiny, and further investigation is underway to determine whether other officials were involved.

FIR and Legal Action

A formal FIR has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The ACB is continuing interrogation of the accused and collecting evidence related to the case.

Authorities stated that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals found guilty, including any officials who may have facilitated or supported the bribery.

Rising Corruption Cases in Rajasthan

This case adds to a growing number of corruption-related incidents being exposed across Rajasthan. The ACB has intensified its operations in recent months, targeting officials involved in bribery and misuse of power.

Officials reiterated their zero-tolerance policy and urged citizens to report corruption, assuring confidentiality and prompt action.

Conclusion

The arrest of Revenue Inspector Devendra Ranawat highlights ongoing corruption issues within administrative systems, particularly in land and revenue departments. As the investigation progresses, the focus will remain on ensuring accountability and restoring public trust in governance.
