Udaipur: In a major breakthrough, the Bekaria police in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district have solved a sensational blind murder case within just seven days, arresting four accused allegedly involved in the brutal killing of a man following a minor road-side dispute on a highway.
The case, which began as a shocking incident of road rage and escalated into a deadly assault, was cracked under the leadership of Udaipur Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, with police relying on technical evidence, cyber tracking, and local intelligence inputs.
Two additional suspects remain absconding, and police teams are conducting raids to apprehend them.
Family Was Returning Home After a Social Gathering
According to police officials, the incident occurred on May 6, when the victim, identified as Mewaram, a resident of Pindwara in Sirohi district, was returning home with family members and friends after attending a function in Peepli Kheda, Udaipur.
While traveling near Takri Valley, their vehicle encountered two motorcycles allegedly coming from the wrong side of the highway. A verbal altercation reportedly broke out after Mewaram asked the riders to move properly and give way.
What began as a minor argument quickly turned violent.
Fatal Attack With Sharp Weapons
Police said the accused lost their temper during the confrontation and allegedly attacked Mewaram and his companions using sharp-edged weapons, including a sword and knives.
Mewaram sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, while several of his companions suffered serious injuries during the assault.
Investigators further revealed that the attackers allegedly robbed the victim’s mobile phone and wallet before fleeing the scene, adding charges of theft and robbery to the case.
Complaint Filed by Victim’s Brother
Following the incident, the victim’s brother Malaram lodged a formal complaint at Bekaria Police Station, prompting an immediate investigation.
Recognizing the seriousness of the crime, SP Dr. Amrita Duhan constituted a special investigation team to identify and track the attackers.
The operation was supervised by:
- Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Swaroop Mewara
- Circle Officer Doongar Singh Chundawat
Police combined cyber-cell analysis, technical surveillance, and information from local informants to identify six suspects allegedly linked to the crime.
Four Arrested, Two Still on the Run
Officials confirmed that four accused have been arrested, with their identities currently being withheld as part of legal procedure.
Police teams are actively searching for the remaining two suspects and conducting raids at multiple locations.
Authorities said further arrests are expected soon.
Accused Allegedly Confessed During Interrogation
During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly admitted that they were riding their motorcycles on the wrong side of the highway.
According to investigators, they became enraged after Mewaram objected and asked them to move correctly and allow safe passage.
In a fit of anger, they allegedly attacked him and his companions, resulting in the fatal outcome.
Police are now verifying the full sequence of events and examining whether the accused were under the influence of alcohol or involved in any prior criminal activities.

The successful and rapid resolution of the case has drawn appreciation within law enforcement circles.
Officials credited the coordinated efforts of:
- Station House Officer Uttam Singh
- ASI Amar Singh
